On July 24, 2019, Counselor Wu Dongmei’s time at the embassy came to an end and Counsellor of Political Affairs, Wang Sheng, took office. During this day Ambassador Huang Xingyuan hosted a forumtogether with both Counselorson overseasChinese and Chinese-funded institutions to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.
About 20 peoplefromoverseasChinese and Chinese-fundedinstitutions in Cyprus participated.
Ambassador Huang first introduced the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China and said that the celebration will cover culture, business and other fields, covering major cities in Cyprus, including the National Day reception hostedby the Embassy, Paphos Cultural Night, Larnaca Chinese Culture Festival, the unveiling ceremony of “China Garden”, the “China Day” event hosted by the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce, Limassol’s “China Festival” sponsored by the International Investors Association and China-Cyprus economic and trade cooperation Business forums.
He said that he hopes that representatives of overseas Chinese and Chinese-funded institutions will carry for ward the spirit of unity and cooperation, actively participate in it, making suggestions and contributions for the celebratio nactivities, and actively demonstrating the great development achievements made since the founding of New China, and telling the story of China well and with energy.
Counselor Wu Dongmei thanked the representatives of the overseas Chinese community and Chinese-fundedinstitutions for their help and support for their work.
She hopes that everyone will continue to support and cooperate with the various work of the Embassy and promote friendly exchanges and cooperation in various fields between China and Cyprus.
Counselor Wang Sheng positively evaluated the representatives of overseas Chinese and Chinese-funded institutions to promote economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Cyprus, and praised their assistanceto the embassy. He hopes that the overseas Chinese community, Chinese-funded institutions and embassies will work together to jointly develop China-Cypriot relations and Practical cooperation ina way that isdeep and practical.
During the forum, the delegates spoke enthusiastically and expressed their willingness to unite and cooperate with the embassy to implement the cultural activities and related activities, and toorganize the National Day celebrations.
