On 6 July 2021, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a message of condolence to his counterpart Cypriot Foreign Minister Nikos Chistodoulides on the devastating fires that took place in Cyprus over the weekend. Through the message he expressed his deep condolences to the deceased and their families as well as profound sympathy for the people affected. The Chinese side is fully confident that Cyprus will gain its complete recovery from the disaster and overcome the current difficulties at an early date.
