The Ambassador of People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Cyprus Mr.HuangXingyuan attended the “China Day” event of the 2019 Red Cross Society

On July 7, 2019, The Ambassador of People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Cyprus Mr.HuangXingyuan attended the Cypriot Red Cross Society Summer Camp for the Students in need and the “China Day” celebrations held in the village of Plattes, Troodos. About 100 people from the Red Cross Society,President MrsFotiniPapadopoulou, 50 young students from poverty, the Red Cross Society staff and the embassy staff, the Chinese Peacekeeping Police in Cyprus and the Xinhua News Agencyattended the event.

In his speech, Ambassador Huang thanked President Papadopoulou and the staff of the Red CrossSociety for their hard work and expressed their support for the care and helping theyoung students. Ambassador Huang said that the Embassy hopes to do its utmost to create a warm family for these children so they can gain friendship and progress through exchanges. Young people are the future of the motherland. They hope that they will gain insights through summer camps, gain positive energy, become role models among their peers, and affect more young people to fight for building their motherland. The Chinese Embassy in Cyprus will continue to support the summer camp for young students organized by the Red CrossSociety.

President MrsFotiniPapadopoulou thanked Ambassador Huang and the Embassy for their strong support for the work of the Red Cross Society and presented the ambassador with the Red Cross Memorial Trophy. She said that the theme of the event was to spread the idea of avoiding violence, pursuing love and peace by spreading the Red Cross to the children and encouraging them to promote the volunteer spirit of the Red Cross.

During the event, Ambassador Huang gave the staff of the Red Cross Society a detailed understanding of the participation of poor students and visited the student residences and venues. The ambassador’s wife, Mary, also prepared gifts for the summer camp students, such as giant panda dolls.

The young students of the school thanked the Chinese government and the people for their kind and charity performances and performed carefully prepared song and dance programs.
