True stories from Xinjiang: Pamir bride and painter Yan Yaya In the Pamir Mountains, the north-western frontier of China, there is a painter called Yan Yaya, who has been dedicated to researching on and creating Tajik figures in the Pamir Mountains for 30 years. Yan Yaya hopes to reflect the dramatic changes that have taken place in the area through her paintings and keep the Pamir Mountains close to everyone’s heart.
