GS of UNWTO expresses support for Cyprus’ National Tourism Strategy

General Secretary of the World Tourism Organisation Zurab Pololikashvili has expressed the Organisation`s support of Cyprus` National Tourism Strategy during a ceremony in which he received the credentials of new Permanent Representative of Cyprus at the Organisation, Ambassador Helena Mina.

According to an official press release, Pololikashvili welcomed the new Permanent Representative and wished her every success to her duties.

The Cypriot Ambassador conveyed the greetings of President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios and invited Pololikashvili to visit Cyprus, underlying the importance of tourismย  on the Cypriot economy.

Mina informed the General Secretary about the government`s measures to address the pandemic as well as about its National Tourism Strategy for 2020-2030.

Pololikashvili expressed the Organisation’s support of Cyprus` National Tourism Strategy as well as the new digital campaign to promote Cyprus and described the effort as a very good opportunity to develop sustainable tourism.

Heย  thankedย  the Ambassador for the invitation and expressed his willingness to strengthen the ties and cooperation. It is noted that next week these issues will be discussed at a teleconference that will take place between Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus and the General Secretary.
