From ‘Water Tube’ to ‘Ice Cube’: Fluid transformation of China’s Olympics Games venue

Accompanied by bursts of shouts, several team members are working hard to wipe the ice with ice brushes, while a delicate stone pot glides slowly on the white ice. In the “Ice Cube”,the curling venue for the Beijing Winter Olympics, a public curling experience competition is underway. Upon closer look, the arena is much more than just a curling arena and might ring a bell. It was converted from the “Water Cube”, the main swimming venue of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and is capable of removable, temporary water-ice transformation.
