The Cyprus industry sector is evolving, growing and needs young people to further strengthen it, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Natasa Pilides has said.

The Minister, who was addressing an online event for professional careers in technical professions and industry, told the young audience that the Cyprus industry has the potential to grow and what is needed is technically trained staff and skilled craftsmen, a need that will always exist.

“The Cypriot industry is evolving, growing and needs young people to strengthen it and evolve with it, in the world of robotics, artificial intelligence, internet of things, green development and circular economy” she said.

Pilides added that our industry is both smart and green and innovative and offers great opportunities for development and professional recognition to those who invest in it and acquire the right knowledge and skills.

She pointed out that during her visits, she discovers industries that she did not know or could not even imagine existed in Cyprus, that export products all over the world, from China to America.

Industry, she told her young audience, is not only about factories, machines and robots, there are many sectors involved such as the food and beverage industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the production of chemicals and products, the production of plastics, the production of metals, the production of building materials, the wood industry, the manufacture of furniture and the manufacture of smart machinery and equipment.
