The implementation of an innovative “Astrotourism” program, which focuses on tourism products aimed at star gazers, has started in Cyprus and is expected to be completed in three years.

According to a relevant press release the project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus, through Research and Innovation Foundation.

The outcome of the relevant research will be used in order to develop a new and sustainable special interest form of tourism in Cyprus.

The presentation of the project โ€œAstrotourismโ€ took place recently in the presence of Deputy Minister of Tourism, Savva Perdios, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Kyriakos Kokkinos and the Commissioner for Environment Klelia Vassiliou.

As noted, the development of Astrotourism will add value to the tourism industry of Cyprus, and combined with other local initiatives of special interest in tourism will enrich both the product of Astrotourism and other forms of tourism.
