Giorgos Koniarakis clinched the silver medal in Men’s U23 discus throw in the European Athletics Throwing Cup 2021 in Split, Croatia, securing Cyprus’ first-ever medal in the event. According to a press release of the Cyprus Amateur Athletics Association, Koniarakis achieved with a throw of 59.31 meters a new personal best, breaking the Cypriot U23 record he had.He finished second behind Belarus’ Yauheni Bahutski with a throw of 64.37 m which constitutes a new Championship record. CNA/GS/EPH/2021ENDS, CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY
