9月26日，中华人民共和国驻塞浦路斯共和国大使馆在塞浦路斯UCLan大学举办了中塞建交48年暨第三届“一带一路”中国塞浦路斯旅游文化节的活动。
本次活动由中国侨联、广州市侨联、塞浦路斯国家旅游局、塞浦路斯广东商会和塞浦路斯UCLan大学共同主办。
这次盛大的文化交流活动不仅弘扬和传播了中华文化，还促进了世界文化的大融合。

On Thursday 26/08/2019 a cultural event was organized by C.G.A.C. Cyprus Guangdong Association of Commerce, at the UCLanUniversity indoor Amphitheater, in Pyla.
The ‘Embrace China – Cyprus’ event was held with the participation of renowned artists of the Guangdong Song & Dance Ensemble, the Xinghai Conservatory of Music and the Guangzhou Acrobatic Troupe, in celebration of the 48 years of China-Cyprus diplomatic relations and the 3rdTourism Festival and Culture of China – Cyprus ‘Belt & Road’.
The aim of the event was to promote the Chinese culture as well as tourism and business development.
Mr. FlorosVoniatis, President of the UCLan University Council, opened the greetings by welcoming everyone in attendance and wishing them a beautiful evening.
It was followed by a welcoming speech by Mr. Wang Chen, Political Counselorof the Embassy of China in Cyprus, which focused on the strengthening of the two countries’ relations.
In his speech, Mr. Yang Deming, President of the C.G.A.C. Cyprus Guangdong Association of Commerce said ‘CGAC has always been committed to playing a bridging role in China-Cyprus development, providing a solid and powerful platform for cultural integrationand Chinese culture promotion.’
The Vice President of the Federation of Overseas Chineseof China and the city of Guangzhou and head of the Chinese Art Group Mr. Lu Qiming said: ‘Let us work together to strengthen the ties between the Chinese communities and the Chinese overseas and to contribute to more friendly exchanges between the two countriesand the economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries. ‘
Finally, Mr. Zhao Yali, a former Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Cyprus (2005-2009), closed the greetings in the Greek language, emphasizing the strong friendship between China and Cyprus, sharing his personal experience with two consecutive periods of service as a diplomat & as China’s Ambassador in Cyprus.He spoke about the many things the Chinese and Cypriot people have in common with a reference to October 1st as a day of celebration of the founding of the Republic for both countries.
The famous artistic team from China was also hosted by the 35thAyia Napa International Festival on 27/08/2019 with their performance in the central square. Both events have been attended by Cyprus officials. This is the third consecutive year that a Chinese art team participates in the International Festival.
This year, the 35thAyia Napa International Festival of Cyprus & 3rd China Tourism and Culture Festival – Cyprus ‘Belt & Road’ are co-hosted by Ayia Napa Municipality and C.G.A.C. Cyprus Guangdong Association of Commerce and the Chinese Overseas Chinese Federation and Guangzhou City.
These events are part of the goal of establishing a long-term cooperation between the two cities on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding that the Mayor Ayia Napa and the Mayor of Guangzhou signed in April 2017 in Guangzhou. A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed with the Nanyue Palace Archaeological Museum.
During the International Festival, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Yiannis Karoussos, in 2018, declared September 27th, a day of Cypriot-Chinese cooperation and especially with the city of Ayia Napa.
