The number of registered unemployed persons in January 2021 marked a reduction of 3.14% compared with December 2020 but spiked by 23% over January 2020, mainly pushed by jobless in trade and construction which were severely hit by restrictive measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. According to data published by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat) on seasonally adjusted basis, which shows the trend in unemployment, the number of jobless persons for January 2021 decreased to 29,579 persons …
