In order to celebrate the most important traditional festival of the Chinese people – the “Spring Festival”, promote the traditional Chinese Spring Festival culture, strengthen the friendship between Chinese and Cypriot people, and bring the sense of the Spring Festival to the local Chinese people, the Chinese Friendship Association Cyprus hosted the second Cyprus “Happy Spring Festival” Chinese Temple Fair in Limassol on 18 January, 2020.
The opening ceremony started from the eye-dotting ceremony by Mr. Xingyuan HUANG, Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus and Sir Nicos Nikoladis, Mayor of Limassol City Hall.
In the opening ceremony, the host of the 2020 Cyprus “Happy Spring Festival” Chinese Temple Fair event, Mr. Huali CHE, Chairman of the Chinese Friendship Association Cyprus, Special Guest, Mr. Zhixun XU, Head of Chef Delegation of the World Federation of Chinese Catering Industry, Deputy Mayor of the People’s Government of Ziyang, Sichuan Province, Special Guest, Ms. Lin CAI, Head of Education Friendship Visiting Performance Troupe of Pengzhou, Sichuan Province, Deputy Director of the Education Bureau of Pengzhou, Sir Nicos Nikoladis, Mayor of Limassol City Hall and Mr. Xingyuan HUANG, Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus, addressed their speeches to the temple fair and sent their sincere greetings for the Chinese Spring Festival.
There were wonderful performances by the Education Friendship Visiting Performance Troupe of Pengzhou, Sichuan Province, the Chef Delegation of the World Federation of Chinese Catering Industry of Ziyang, Sichuan Province, Arotseris Kartes, a Famous local traditional art troupe in Cyprus, the C.C Sino- Cypriot Cultural and Language Education Center as well as the parents and children of the Kids’ Story Party.
There were a lot of people in the temple fair, and the local residents and Chinese people felt strong Chinese “year flavor” while enjoying wonderful performances and Chinese food!
This event has won strong support and assist by Limassol City Hall, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cyprus, Minimal Invasive Medical Center of AIMIS (American Institute Health Care Group), YJ Cyprus Universal Investment Ltd., the Red Tree Restaurant, Huawei, Ousai Real Estate Group, SVALENO Real Estate Development Company, Stylianides Real Estate Development Group and XM Trading Point Holding Ltd.!
Special thanks to American medical post-graduate students of Aimis, who registered the Gesy government medical system for the Chinese and donated free medical cards to the event. And at the same time, they also invited the local Chinese people to go to the Athonitisa AIMIS medical center, the Gesy government medical system (located opposite to the entrance of the IKEA parking lot in Limassol).
The temple fair provided an opportunity for the whole-scale performance and communication of Chinese traditional culture, including folk customs, catering, crafts, martial arts, dance, costumes, etc. As an important platform for the cultural exchange between China and Cyprus, the Chinese Spring Festival Temple Fair in Cyprus also makes its own contribution to the global propagation of Chinese traditional folk culture, the promotion of Chinese cultural exchange and the construction of the “Road and Belt” Maritime Silk Road globally.
