A major art exhibition celebrating China’s rich maritime history opened on Monday, 25th of February 2019 at the University of Cyprus in Nicosia.
The significant collection of works tells the story of China’s historic maritime exchanges in regions spanning from Asia and Africa to Europe and the Mediterranean. The exhibition was organized within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative by the Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus.
Among the highlights is a magnificent scroll, depicting the history of Chinese sea trade. All the works displayed show how contemporary artists give their understanding and appreciation of modern Chinese marine development.
The artworks were donated by the Shenzhen University within the framework of promoting and supporting the Chinese marine culture and the in-depth exchanges between Cyprus and China.
