Cyprus authorities announce on Sunday no new coronavirus cases for second day in a row

Cyprus authorities announced on Sunday that they detected no new confirmed COVID-19 cases, after conducting 1,194 laboratory tests, repeating yesterday`s results for a second day in a row. “On the basis of today’s data, the total number of positive cases remains at 980,” a Ministry of Health press release notes.
  
The Ministry of Health announced that according to the Epidemiological Unit’s data, no cases were detected after testing 42 samples from contact tracing, 331 samples from testing passengers, 256 samples in the context of a testing programme of 10,000 employees in hairdressers, barbershops, beauty institutes, tattoo parlours and restaurants, 141 samples in the context of a programme testing 20,000 students and school staff, 133 samples from the General Hospitals’ Microbiology Labs, 191 samples in the context of a program to test people belonging to special groups referred by their personal doctors through the public health centers and 100 samples from private initiative.
  
 Until this afternoon, two patients were treated at Famagusta General Hospital which operates as the reference hospital for COVID-19, while another two patients continued to be treated at Nicosia General Hospital ICU on a ventilator.
