Cypriot health experts attend the China – CEE expert information exchange video conference on normalizing epidemic prevention and control

On 1 December 2020, the China – Central and Eastern European expert information exchange video conference on normalizing epidemic prevention and control was successfully held. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the Secretariat for China-CEE Cooperation, the National Health Commission, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and experts in related fields attended the conference online, as well as officials and epidemic prevention and control experts from 17 CEE countries. Representatives of the Minister of Health of Cyprus, Chief Health Officer Constantinos and officials of the Ministry of Health of Cyprus attended as special invitees.

China reviewed the latest progress in the global fight against the epidemic since March this year, and pointed out that no country can be immunised alone in the face of the epidemic,  the international community should remain united and work together. China is willing to exchange information and share experiences with all parties to overcome the epidemic.ใ€€

The Chinese experts introduced their experiences in the prevention and control of epidemic outbreaks, large-scale rapid nucleic acid testing, clinical treatment, self-protection of medical and nursing staff, prevention and control of epidemic outbreaks in local areas, progress in vaccine research and development and clinical trials, and the application of Chinese medicine and digital technology in the fight against epidemic. China also exchanged and discussed in detail the treatment of critically ill patients of foreign concern, the classification and control of hospitalised patients, strict prevention and control, the latest progress in vaccine research and development, and the

application of digital technology in the fight against epidemics, etc. The two sides also exchanged views on the cold chain carrying viruses, the prospect of Chinese vaccine research and development applications, the entry of Chinese herbal medicine into the European pharmaceutical market and the mutual recognition of QR codes for international travel.ใ€€ใ€€

After the meeting, the Cypriot officials expressed their deep gratitude for the invitation to participate in the video conference, saying that the video conference was informative, practical and useful, and would be of high reference value to the Cypriot side in the prevention and control of the epidemic in the next stage.
