Ambassador Liu Yantao Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides

On February 24, 2021, Ambassador Liu Yantao met with Foreign Minister of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on various issues of common interests, including China-Cyprus relations and practical cooperation, celebration events for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cyprus diplomatic relations, as well as cooperation on multilateral affairs and the Cyprus Problem.

Ambassador Liu and Minister Christodoulides reiterated both sidesโ€™ firm adherence to the “One Cyprus” and “One China” principles. They both stressed that China and Cyprus, as good friends and partners of mutual trust, will continue to understand and firmly support each other on issues bearing on each otherโ€™s core interests. Both sides will take the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to further enhance political mutual trust, and expand exchange and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, technology, culture and tourism so as to give new boost to the longstanding friendship between China and Cyprus and elevate bilateral relations to a higher level for the benefits of the two peoples.
