On June 23, 2020, Ambassador Huang Xingyuan met with Professor Kostas Gouliamos, Rector of the European University Cyprus (EUC), and exchanged views on China-Cyprus educational cooperation, think-tank exchanges, the “Belt and Road” Initiative and other issues of mutual interest.
Ambassador Huang commended Rector Gouliamos and EUC’s great efforts in conducting Chinese political science and sociological studies at EUC, saying that he is pleased to see the positive development that EUC have made in facilitating joint projects between higher education institutions of the two countries. Ambassador Huang said that the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus is willing to continue the good cooperation with EUC to enhance the friendship and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Rector Gouliamos thanked Ambassador Huang and the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus for the fruitful efforts over the years in fostering educational and cultural exchanges between China and Cyprus. He spoke highly of China’s concept and approach of building a Community with Shared Future for Mankind and China’s outstanding leadership and influence in supporting the global fight against COVID-19. He said that the EUC is ready to deepen cooperation in various fields and at various levels with China in an effort to contribute to the development of China-Cyprus and China-EU relations.
