On July 30, 2020, Ambassador Huang Xingyuan paid a farewell call on Mr. Andros Kyprianou, General Secretary of the Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL).
Ambassador Huang spoke highly of and sincerely thanked the party and General Secretary Kyprianou for the long-term and firm support on issues concerning China’s core interests. He highlighted that the two parties have similar positions on many international and regional issues and both oppose bullying and unilateralism. Ambassador Huang hoped that the two parties will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in related fields, contributing to the comprehensive and sound development of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
Mr. Kyprianou fully agreed with Ambassador Huang’s coomments and highly appreciated Ambassador Huang’s outstanding contribution to the promotion of friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties and the two countries. General Secretary sincerely thanked the Communist Party of China and the Chinese Government for their selfless support and positive role in the facilitating a resolution of the Cyprus Problem. He reaffirmed the principled position of the AKEL in supporting China on major issues and stressed that in the context of the accelerated deterioration of the international political landscape, cooperation between the two parties has become more important and imminent.
Mr. Kyprianou wished Ambassador Huang every success and achievement in his new postition.
